Privacy Policy

1. Scope and local data. This policy covers Star Scribe and this website. Core astronomy and logs require no account. Records, notes, custom fields, photos, equipment, settings, saved coordinates and calculation caches stay on the device by default, without automatic upload to a developer server.

2. Location. Permission is requested after you choose current location, for local astronomy calculations. You may refuse or revoke permission and enter coordinates manually. There is no background location tracking.

3. Weather. Online weather is optional and off by default. Enabling it sends the selected latitude and longitude to Apple WeatherKit for weather retrieval under Apple's terms. Disabling it stops requests and clears the local weather cache. Network, service or quota failures do not stop offline astronomy.

4. Photos and files. Photo access follows your action and system authorization. Photos are retained locally with records. JSON/CSV exports are generated locally; sharing or saving elsewhere is your choice. Import reads only the file you select. Receiving services apply their own policies; exported files may contain personal locations and notes.

5. Purchases. Apple processes payment and refunds. RevenueCat may process product IDs, transactions, purchase status, a pseudonymous App user ID and necessary technical metadata to verify and restore Pro. We do not receive card numbers or Apple account passwords. Providers retain transaction data under their policies.

6. Retention and choices. Local data remains until you delete it, replace it during import, clear App data or uninstall. Back up important records; device or system backups may retain copies under your settings. You can manage permissions and weather, correct or delete local records and contact the publisher about data you have directly provided. Deleting local data does not delete provider transactions.

7. Website and third parties. This static website has no login, advertising, forms or behavior analytics. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata for delivery and security. App logs are not sent to this website. We do not sell personal data or conduct cross-App tracking. Apple, RevenueCat, Cloudflare and external links have their own policies and may process data internationally.

8. Security, children and changes. No storage or transmission is completely secure; protect your device and avoid sensitive credentials in notes. The service is not directed at children. Parents may contact the publisher about information provided by a child. Applicable rights, including access, correction, deletion and complaints to a supervisory authority, remain available where law provides them. Material changes will be communicated reasonably, with the date updated. Contact information appears in the support section.

9. Purposes and lawful processing. Information is used only for the functions you request: local planning and records, optional weather, purchase verification, support and service security. Where applicable, processing relies on providing the requested service, your consent to optional access, necessary legal obligations or legitimate security interests balanced with your rights. Permission is not consent to advertising. Core offline use does not require enabling weather or location.

10. Technical data and international services. Apple, RevenueCat and Cloudflare may receive IP addresses, device or operating-system information, request times and errors when their services are contacted. They use their own retention schedules and applicable transfer safeguards. We do not operate a separate automatic observation-log upload or behavioral profiling service. Apple system diagnostics follow your device settings. Read the linked provider policies before enabling online functions.

11. Privacy requests and support. If you email support, the publisher receives your email address, message and attachments and uses them to answer the request, resolve the issue and meet legal obligations, keeping only what is needed. Do not send passwords, full identity documents or your complete observation backup unnecessarily. Requests may require proportionate identity verification and are handled within applicable legal deadlines; refusal or limitation will be explained where required. We cannot remotely inspect or erase data held only on your device; provider-held data requests should also go to that provider.

12. Photos, backups and withdrawal. Selected photos may be resized and re-encoded; keep originals separately. Revoking photo permission prevents new access but does not erase copies already saved in a record. JSON backups may contain embedded photos; CSV is a text export, not a complete photo backup. Delete shared exports and system backups separately. Withdrawing optional permissions stops future authorized access without making earlier lawful processing unlawful. No automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made from your observation records.
